NEWBURY & DISTRICT BUS ROUTES
Newbury & District is a name synonymous with public transport in West Berkshire since 1932. Nearly 85 years later we’re proud to be providing the very highest levels of service with modern buses and a small team of friendly drivers.
ALL CHANGE IN NEWBURY
From Monday 5th September 2016, the provision of West Berkshire Council’s financially-supported services in the Newbury area will switch from Newbury & District to another contractor.
More information about these and other public transport services is available via the Council's Public Transport website.
From this date, Newbury & District will continue to operate services 9/9a/9b/9c and 103.
In addition we will be operating brand new services 1a and 1c for the benefit of our customers who previously travelled with us on routes 101/102/104/105 between Thatcham & Newbury. We are also delighted to be able to announce the introduction of a new fast link between Thatcham and Newbury numbered 1d. As a special introductory offer, Service 1d will be free to use until 23rd October.
Commencing 24th October 2016
Services 1A,1C and 1D will be starting from and terminating at Newbury Bus Station, Bay J. They will continue to also stop at Newbury Post Office on the outward and return journeys.
Fares will be charged but these will be held at pre-September rates on ordinary singles and returns. All day and period tickets will be reduced with the following rates applicable.
|Ten Tripper Ticket||£14||£10|
Please note that all day returns and period tickets are entirely interchangeable between Services 1A, 1C and 1D.
Single and day return tickets are available for both adults, children and young people (aged 5 to 16, and students in full-time education through to their 19th birthday. The full range of West Berkshire Connect, (Urban, Rural and Flexi) tickets and passes are accepted on services 9/9A/9B/9C and 103 and are available to purchase from the driver on those services. On services 1A, 1C and 1D we offer a full range of our own day, weekly, monthly and ten tripper tickets which may be used on any or all of these three services and are available from the driver on those services.
We participate in the English National Concessionary Travel scheme, whereby senior citizens and other holders of valid concessionary travel passes travel free after 09.30 on weekdays and all day at weekends and on Public Holidays.
All our buses are fitted with seatbelts and all have a step free entrance, making them particularly suitable for wheelchair users and passengers with pushchairs. Every bus is powered by the very latest Euro 5 or Euro 6 low emission engine, resulting in our fleet being extremely environmentally friendly.
Our buses are also available to hire; we offer a range of sizes from 29 to 86 seats, so please call 01635 33855 or email: with your requirements.
